SheCanCODE Bootcamp
The SheCanCODE Bootcamp is a flagship initiative of Igire Rwanda Organisation, designed to equip young women with the skills to excel in technology careers. This intensive 16-week program offers hands-on software development training, blending technical expertise with professional skills to prepare participants for competitive work environments. The curriculum provides a robust foundation in coding fundamentals and includes specialised tracks in backend development, frontend development, and DevOps. Guided by seasoned software engineering professionals, participants gain practical expertise and industry insights.
Beyond technical training, SheCanCODE prioritises professional growth through comprehensive support in communication, problem-solving, and career readiness. A dedicated career team ensures graduates are connected to job opportunities within Rwanda and beyond, empowering them for long-term success.
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Advanced Technical Backend Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with a commitment to teaching, curriculum development, and mentorship to continue our mission of empowering young women through technology.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development & Training
- Design and implement comprehensive training curricula aligned with current industry standards, focusing on backend and DevOps tracks.
- Facilitate engaging, hands-on training sessions that inspire and challenge learners.
- Develop and administer programming assessments to evaluate learner progress.
- Create and update training materials for both in-person and online delivery, ensuring relevance and accessibility.
- Provide individualised support to learners, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collect and analyse learner feedback to continuously enhance training programs.
Software Development
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal software systems for the IGIRE Rwanda Organisation.
- Collaborate on software projects with IGIRE Rwanda’s partners and stakeholders, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Mentorship & Team Development
- Train and empower junior facilitators, enhancing their technical and instructional skills.
- Provide mentorship to foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Graduate Career Readiness
- Develop curricula to prepare learners for seamless integration into the job market.
- Oversee workshops and activities focused on soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, to ensure career readiness.
Diversity & Inclusion
- Promote a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Advocate for equitable access and opportunities within training programs to support all participants.
Administrative & Reporting
- Prepare detailed reports on training outcomes and program effectiveness for the Program Manager and executive team.
- Maintain accurate records of learner performance, attendance, and program metrics.
Other Responsibilities
- Research and integrate cutting-edge technologies and learning resources to enhance training quality.
- Collaborate with team members to improve the organisation’s technology infrastructure.
- Participate in creating educational videos and delivering impactful lectures to broaden program reach.
Qualifications & Skills
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in backend development with Java & Spring Boot and/or Node.js with knowledge of DevOps practices.
- Extensive knowledge of version control systems like Git, with hands-on experience on platforms such as GitHub or GitLab.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Curriculum Development
- Proven ability to design and update training materials that align with industry standards and cater to diverse learning needs.
- Experience creating assessments and learning resources for technical education programs.
Mentorship & Collaboration
- Demonstrated experience mentoring junior team members or students, fostering their technical and professional growth.
- Strong collaboration skills, with a history of working effectively in cross-functional teams.
Project Management
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, or Trello) to manage tasks and ensure timely delivery of training and software projects.
Problem Solving
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions.
Communication
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for delivering engaging training sessions, preparing documentation, and reporting to stakeholders.
Passion for Education
- A commitment to staying updated with the latest trends in technology and education, with a drive to inspire and empower learners.
